“The Pharmacist based audience were fully engaged by a highly interactive and varied day of Dermatology training”

A programme of training days for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants was devised and delivered by DermacademyUK during 2015, sponsored by Beiersdorf. The content was tailored to the audience to provide relevant and targeted education on the main dermatological conditions to specifically enhance the interaction between pharmacists and their customers with skin complaints. 

Mark Furniss, Pharmacy Director for Beiersdorf, wrote:

“DermacademyUK identified the opportunity to provide Pharmacists with Dermatology training and support Local Pharmacy to offer a good level of knowledge around common skin conditions. Dr. Gee and Dr. Bedlow produced the day’s training purposefully designed for pharmacists and it was made relevant through examples, ideas and knowledge that a community pharmacist could utilise. By offering variety throughout the training in the form of quizzes, workshop and interactive presentations the audience were all extremely engaged and grateful at the end of the day. The level of content was perfect and everybody left the training motivated by the obvious passion that Dr. Gee and Dr. Bedlow have for their specialism of Dermatology.”

Feedback from the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants at these Training days was excellent: 100% of the 38 attendees rated the Presentations as ‘Excellent’; 37 of the 38 attendees (97%) rated the Content as ‘Excellent’; and 35 of the 38 attendees (92%) rated the Relevance as ‘Excellent’. Free text comments included: “Thoroughly enjoyed the day, great communicators, loved having the opportunity to interact with these experts”; “Very engaging and thoroughly enjoyable”; “I really felt I benefitted from today’s training”; “I feel a lot more confident in helping patients before referral”; “I really enjoyed the training day and gained a wide range of new knowledge”; “Superb day and two fantastic speakers!”

A modular course of training sessions was provided during 2013-14 for Beiersdorf UK. The medical manager for Beiersdorf UK, Eve Townley, wrote:
